Dr. Appt update

I had a doctors appointment today. Everything is looking great she said. My belly is measuring right where I should be for 31 weeks. I was only in 3 weeks ago, and since my last appointment I gained 3 1/2 lbs....in three weeks! That's the most I've gained at ANY appointment and usually my appointments are a whole month apart-not three weeks! Maybe its all the burgers/fries/ice cream/pizza/etc I've been eating so much lately....

Anyways, so about a week ago or so I remember feeling Ryder make a big turn/movement inside of me. He used to kinda be lying sideways/diagonal in me, but at my appointment today the doctor said he flipped so he's now head down (hence the whole having to pee way more than before) and his back is on my right and not my left anymore. So at least he's not breech! It's still early and she said he might still flip around a little, but usually by week 33-34 the doctor said that the baby has picked a position he'll stay in for the rest of pregnancy. Let's hope that he stays head down :)

Single digits for weeks left to go: 9 weeks left!!

One word to describe this week: antsy. I decided, now that I'm even more uncomfortable as each day passes and I can't bend over to do stuff like get my socks or shoes on, or shave my legs...not that I did that on a frequent basis anyways (not the point), that I am ready for the end. Of course, it's slightly too early to have him yet: he's still gaining fat and finishing development of his lungs and brain. But at my appointment on Wednesday I'm going to ask if there's any way that we can speed this process up and have the baby in, like, 5-6 weeks or so rather than 9. that would be super. and unrealistic I know. But a girl can wish!!

Joe and I have our third lamaze/childbirth class tonight. It's all about breastfeeding and what to expect post birth with a mom's body. I'm sure Joe won't get grossed out at all...haha.

30 weeks down, 10 to go :)

This week we are 30 weeks along, can you believe it?! It seems crazy to look at the count down on this blog page and see that there are only 70 days left...

This week in the books it says that Ryder's eyes can now distinguish between light and dark and research has shown that if you take a bright flashlight and move it slowly over the belly, the baby reacts because babies can see this light. So Joe and I are going to have a light show on my belly tonight and see what happens. No, I'm kidding.

Other updates: Ryder is about 3lbs this week and should be gaining about a half pound per week until birth. Now me on the other hand....we'll see how much I will be gaining each week for the next ten weeks! As you can see by my 7 /1/2 month picture, I've gotten quite a lot bigger since my 7 month picture (below) just 2 weeks ago...and yes...there are still 10 weeks to go!

29 weeks

This week Joe and I had our first childbirth class/Lamaze class. We found it interesting and there were only a few moments where, while going through the "labor process" did Joe get grossed out :) There was a time at the end of class where we did some practice breathing. Of course, Joe and I were "that couple" who was giggling and when it's quiet in class, everyone knows how you can't stop laughing. So yes, we were that super mature couple giggling in the back of the class when we're supposed to be serious with our breathing techniques.

This week Ryder is continuing to gain fat. In the next month or so Ryder will be doubling to tripling his weight as he starts to plump up under his skin. That way he won't look like a wrinkly old man when he comes out!

7 month baby bump shot

PS: Joe and I felt Ryder have hiccups for the first time last night.

7 months!

This week has been pretty neat. I am able to push around my belly and feel where his head, back, etc is which continues to amaze me that there is a little human in there....more so...OUR little human being! He moves SO much now and has officially started invading my breathing space. Last night at work I felt like I couldn't catch my breath and had to lean back in my chair when sitting down.

Our books this week say that he's about 2.5 lbs and is about 14 inches long from head to toe. He officially can open and shut his eyes fully now--he can blink!

It's funny because yesterday Joe was reading the weekly chapter and it started off by saying, "you are now only 12 short weeks from your official due date". Joe and I stopped and said, "WOW, that's not far away AT ALL!" then joe said, "do you realize that in 12 weeks it will never be just you and me....for the rest...of....our...lives???" hahaha. we were momentarily silent as we let that sink in if you can imagine. weird to think about, but still exciting. I will post probably on Thursday my 7 month baby bump picture. I have yet to take it yet.
